First Viking in 40mm

As I've announced, here's the first of six 40mm Vikings from S & S.

They are pretty impressive, especially when you compare them to 28mm, as you can see in the first picture.

I just wish, the photos could do the figures real justice, as they unfortunately never can... .

I still need to put a symbol on the banner (black raven), but since I'm not good at painting banners at all, I'm looking for an appropriate decal.

New 40mm Landsknechts

I was able to finish three more Landsknechts of Doug Miller's 40mm range.
I like them more and more, so I ordered several additional ones that I hope will arrive soon.

In the meantime I'm working on 40mm Vikings from Sash and Saber. The first one will be finished tonight and posted here tomorrow.

So keep coming back, and send me your comments, I'd like to know your opinions.

My latest piece of work shows a 28mm Celt Standard Bearer from Warlord Games.

I saw this figure somewhere in the net and just had to have it... !

28mm Handgunner Landsknechts

Still busy working on my 40mm Landsknechts, I took some time to finish this 28mm handgunner group.
They are from the hands of a private modeller who produces them in small numbers.

The base is not worked on, because this group will be part of a larger diorama.

Landsknechts in 40mm

Being a fan of both Landsknechts and the 40mm size, I purchased some figures from Doug Miller's range.

Ich think, they are well skulpted miniatures, even though they could have been a little less sloppily modelled in some detail... .

Anyway, I like them and I started to paint two of them (actually it's four figures).

The first one is a Landsknecht general or "Locotenent" on an armoured horse. Since I find armour or mail easy to paint and there is not much to be seen of the horse (at which I have no experience in painting with), I started with this one.
I painted horse and rider seperately and put them together only before varnishing.

Next, I did this little vignette, which shows a Landsknecht fighting with a peasent, with a dead Landsknecht on the ground.
This is probably my favourite peace of Doug Miller's work, so I just had to paint it. I think, it came out very well.

Some other figures of that range are in Progress, and I'll present them here once finished, of course.

Here's my latest figure, which I just finished today.

It's another 28mm Viking from Gripping Beast. I really like their figures.

The cast resembles Ragnar Lothbrok, a famous Viking leader. I took the paint scheme from the GP website as an example.

Basically, it was not too difficult to paint, but I do notice that I'm having some difficulty with painting faces.

But I think, there's already some progress compared to my first figure, don't you think...?
